Policies and Evaluation Process

Articles submitted to the Revista de Ensino em Artes, Moda e Design undergo evaluation through a double-blind review system, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. Two or three reviewers, selected by the Editor-in-Chief from a pool of registered evaluators, will conduct the evaluation. These reviewers must be professionals with recognized experience and academic credentials, preferably holding doctoral degrees, and actively engaged in national or international higher education and/or research institutions, with significant scientific contributions in the journal’s areas of interest.

The editorial process consists of five rigorous phases:
       1. Preliminary Evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief: Initially, the Editor-in-Chief evaluates the article for its alignment with the journal’s scope and editorial standards. If necessary, the manuscript may be returned to the author with suggestions for revisions or rejected if it does not meet the publication criteria.
       2. Peer Review: The manuscript is forwarded to two or three ad hoc reviewers who are experts in the relevant field or approach. Manuscripts that receive two favourable reviews advance to the language revision phase, where authors are responsible for making adjustments. Conversely, articles receiving two unfavourable reviews will be rejected, and the authors will be notified. In cases of conflicting reviews, the manuscript will be submitted to a third reviewer. If modifications are suggested, authors must implement the recommended changes for publication consideration.
       3. Evaluation of Modifications and Similarity Check: After the authors revise their manuscripts, the texts are submitted to similarity detection software, iThenticate, to ensure content originality. At this stage, a manuscript may be rejected due to high similarity with other published works or returned to the author for necessary corrections.
       4. Final Revision and Linguistic Adjustments: If the manuscript is approved, it is returned to the author for a final review, which includes spelling, grammatical, and contextual corrections.
       5. Final Authorization and Publication: After layout adjustments, the author reviews the text to verify its accuracy, and upon approval, authorizes its publication.

Ethical Practices and Plagiarism Detection
In adherence to the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Revista de Ensino em Artes, Moda e Design implements stringent ethical practices throughout the editorial process. All submitted articles undergo originality verification using iThenticate software, which detects overlaps and similarities with previously published texts.        1. This journal is a member of Similarity Check, an initiative launched by Crossref that unites several journals to protect the originality of the content they publish.
       2. The Similarity Check employs iThenticate software to detect matches and similarities between evaluated texts and previously published works.
       3. By depositing all content in the Similarity Check database, we enable other editors to compare submitted texts with those already published.
       4. If high similarities or inappropriate practices are detected, the manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be informed. The journal also prohibits the "recycling" of texts, defined as the reuse of previously published material without proper citation.

       2. Observe an interval of at least eight months between the publication of one paper and the submission of another manuscript.
       3. Prepare manuscripts that provide a clear and precise account of the conducted research or proposed theoretical discussion, articulating objectives and conclusions. Include data, methods, processes, sources, and references that allow for reproduction or verification of the research.
       4. Ensure that the manuscript does not contain fraudulent, intentionally misleading, or distorted statements, as such submissions will be rejected or excluded from publication.
       5. Clearly present ideas, concepts, and statements from other sources and authors, indicating direct or indirect citations and referencing them correctly according to the journal's standards to prevent inaccuracies categorized as plagiarism. Any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is considered unethical and unacceptable editorial conduct.
       6. Use images, documents, and any other proprietary information only with explicit written permission from the respective sources or copyright holders when applicable.
       7. Present, at the time of submission, relevant authorization from the Ethics Committee of the institution affiliated with the author or linked to the research.
