Peer Review
The review process occurs in two main stages for the Dossier and Variata sections.
- Editorial Team Evaluation:
The Editorial Team conducts a preliminary assessment to verify compliance with all guidelines, including the complete filling of metadata, relevance of the template, publication standards, journal scope, and the significance of the proposed study. If the manuscript meets the requirements and is approved, it moves to the next stage. Otherwise, it may be:
- a) sent back to the authors for necessary corrections and/or clarifications for resubmission;
- b) rejected and returned to the authors.
Submissions that do not meet the publication standards will be returned to the authors.
- Blind Peer Review:
The editors appoint two ad hoc reviewers with a minimum qualification of Doctor to conduct the blind review. In case of divergent opinions, the manuscript will be sent to a third reviewer. The evaluation stages are as follows:
- a) Quantitative Analysis: The reviewer must consider the following items on a scale ranging from “very poor” to “very good” (scoring from 0 to 4 for each item): coherence of the title and subtitle with the text; the abstract expresses the content of the work and meets the requirements of the template; introduction; relevance of the topic; mastery and development of the subject; depth of content; structure of the work; spelling and grammatical accuracy; clarity of writing; conclusion; relevance and currency of references; and compliance with the journal’s standards.
- b) Qualitative Analysis: The reviewer writes a detailed report, focusing primarily on issues related to form (grammatical and stylistic aspects), content (coherence of ideas and arguments), and the stages of the work (problem formulation, conceptual foundation, discussion and direction of analysis, bibliography, text organization, and support of proposed ideas).
- c) Outcome: The reviewer must choose one of the following judgments—approved, conditionally approved, or rejected. Subsequently, the authors will receive an email notification informing them of the evaluation result and other recommendations based on the outcome.
Manuscripts that are approved or conditionally approved and receive recommendations will be sent to the authors for necessary corrections, which must occur within the stipulated timeframe. It is the responsibility of the editors to evaluate whether the recommendations were met, and if not, to refuse publication. If the corrected text is not submitted to the platform within the specified timeframe, it will be archived. In the case of Dossier, the blind evaluation is the responsibility of its organizers.
It is emphasized that there is no right of appeal for rejected works. However, for rejected texts, reviewers may provide suggestions for submitting the works to publications in other fields if the manuscripts do not conform to the journal's scope.
Submissions for Essay, Interview, and Review will undergo evaluation solely by the Editorial Team.
