Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscript is original, unpublished, of a consistent scientific nature and is not being evaluated, in parallel, to be published by another journal (otherwise it should be justified in "Comments to the Editor");
  • Files must be 2 MB or smaller and the text must be in .doc or .docx format;
  • All author identifications from the work have been removed or replaced with [omitted for blind review] in the file and in the Word Properties option, thus ensuring Blind Peer Review. If the text is for the Interview section, disregard this item;
  • The author registration on the platform and during submission must include the following information for all authors: full name, highest degree, affiliated institution (full name), Lattes link and/or ORCID, and biography (with a maximum length of 150 words with the main activities in the area and the main publications, including whether it is linked to any research funding sector);
  • Authors are aware of and agree to the Editorial Policies and other publication guidelines of ModaPalavra e-periódico;
  • The evaluation process may take six (6) to twelve (12) months;
  • The articles approved for the thematic dossiers will be published in Portuguese and, if the authors also wish to have them published in English or Spanish, they can send them in by the deadlines set by the journal, and must include in a footnote the name and training of the person who reviewed the version of the article in another language;

  • Authors and co-authors must not have any other text currently under evaluation at the time of submission, nor have published in this journal in the last year;
  • The text is original, unpublished, and of consistent scientific merit. Editors reserve the right to reject submissions with significantly similar content (plagiarism) to other published works (scientific journals, conference proceedings, dissertations, theses, etc.). Following the publication guidelines of journals in the Udesc Journals Portal, Similarity Verification using iThenticate software is conducted on submitted, evaluated, and approved scientific articles. Therefore, approved articles may be rejected at the final stage if they contain significantly similar content (plagiarism) to other published works;
  • The text follows formatting standards and guidelines according to the model for: Articles, Essays, Interviews, and Reviews;
  • Technical standards highlighted: Abstract (ABNT NBR 6028:2021); Sections/Subsections (ABNT NBR 6024:2002); Citations (ABNT NBR 10520:2023); Illustrations (ABNT NBR 14724:2011); and References (ABNT NBR 6023:2018).

Author Guidelines

ModaPalavra e-periódico publishes original texts of consistent scientific merit that present investigations in the fields of teaching, research, and production related to fashion — addressing its social, historical, technological, educational, economic, and design developments — considered as an area of knowledge inseparable from contemporary society.

The publication is annual for the Variata, Review, and Interview sections (continuous flow) and semiannual for the Dossier section (January and July). From the articles submitted to the Dossier, up to six are selected for publication, while the remaining approved articles are published in the Variata section.

We accept texts related to works developed by teachers, professionals, and academics (with a minimum qualification of Master's degree, in co-authorship with a Doctoral advisor), in Portuguese, Spanish, or English, aligned with the central theme of the journal. Members of the Editorial and Advisory Boards may also submit texts to the journal, provided they comply with the guidelines.

The content expressed in the contributions published by ModaPalavra e-periódico, as well as the orthographic and grammatical review of manuscripts, are the sole responsibility of the authors. Incomplete or incorrect information in the submission form will not be modified or included during the evaluation process or after the approval of the work. Works with incomplete information will be returned to the authors.
