Abstract

Este artigo objetiva discutir a atuação de Oswaldo Rodrigues Cabral como profissional da área médica, ressaltando sua participação nas propostas para tornar efetivo o saneamento urbano de Florianópolis, especialmente no período da Primeira República e, singularmente, no governo de Hercílio Luz. Da mesma forma, analisar os discursos medicalizadores, vigentes no período da sua formação, bem como a sua produção intelectual e atuação no âmbito da saúde pública.

Abstract: This paper aims at discussing the role of Oswaldo Rodrigues Cabral as a medical professional, stressing his participation in the proposals to establish the urban sanitation system in Florianópolis, especially during the period of the Primeira República (First Republic) and singularly during the Hercílio Luz government. Likewise, the medicalizing speeches, in force during the time he was a student, will be analyzed, as well as his intellectual production and performance in the realm of the public health.
