Editorial policy

The publication of articles is conditional on at least two opinions of members from the editorial board or ad hoc in a blind review process, on condition that 75% of the reviewers are affiliated with other institutions and/or are from other countries.

The selection of articles for publication adopts the following basic criteria: if the work contributes to education, arts, inclusion or to the editorial line of the Journal; if the theme is original or is explored in an original manner; the consistency and rigor of the theoretical-methodological approach.

 

⦁ EVALUATION POLICIES

1 - Confirmation of receipt of the submission via the online submission system.

2 - Evaluation by the editorial team regarding compliance with the rules of the Journal.

A) Adherence to a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 pages, as per the standards of the journal.

B) Adherence to the rules for text formatting, visual elements, citations, references, etc., as specified in the author guidelines.

2.1 - If there is a need for editing, the editorial team will forward the respective request with a form containing the items that require revision/editing.

2.2 - if the submitted manuscript does not meet the minimum criteria as specified in the standards of the journal, it will be returned to the author(s) with an appropriate justification.

3 - The manuscript will be sent to peer reviewers, who will:

A) assess whether the manuscript makes an original and unpublished contribution to the specific field of research.

B) consider whether the manuscript is aligned with the editorial line of the Journal.

C) evaluate whether the theme is original and how it was explored, as well as check whether the theoretical-methodological approach was consistently and properly applied.

D) ensure that the manuscript has no language errors.

E) confirm that the manuscript follows the norms by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) for citation, bibliographical references, abstract, among other specific rules for articles published in electronic journals.

4 - Analysis and comparison of opinions.

4.1 The authors of the approved works are notified by the editorial team's coordinator with the opinions and requests for corrections, as recommended by the team of reviewers.

4.2 Works that received one favorable opinion and one negative opinion (an approval and a rejection) are sent to the coordinator of the editorial team for evaluation by a third reviewer for the sake of consensus.

For the works that received an approval and a rejection, REAI adopts the policy of sending the authors the considerations of the first reviews so that the amendments and adjustments can be madebefore their work is sent for evaluation by a third reviewer for the sake of consensus.

4.3 - The works with two negative opinions (rejected) are directly refused.

4.4 - The acceptance and publishing of the manuscript only occur after the authors have revised the manuscript (if required) and have sent it to the editorial team for a final check.

 

Average time for evaluation

The evaluation process consists of the receipt, the evaluations, and the final approval of the manuscript), and it is estimated to take two to three months, on average. In other words, this time can be reduced or extended.

⦁ Deadline for initial evaluation by the editorial team: 15 days.
⦁ Deadline for initial review by the authors (if necessary): 10 days.
⦁ Deadline for review by the peer reviewers: 15 days.
⦁ Deadline for final corrections by the authors (if necessary): 10 days.

The deadline for publishing may vary, depending on the number of manuscripts submitted.

Exclusions

The Journal of Education, Arts, and Inclusion does not accept studies previously presented in full in scientific events.

When articles are based on theses or dissertations, this condition/situation must be reported at the time of submission in the field Comments to the editor. If the manuscript is approved, this information must be given in a footnote.

⦁ PUBLISHING MODEL

REAI has adopted the Continuous Article Publishing model as of Volume 17 (2021).

Two issued are published every year: one as a Steady Stream Issue and one as a Theme Issue.

⦁ The call for the Steady Stream Issue is opened at the beginning of the year; it works through a steady stream of submissions; manuscripts are welcomed at all times and are published after editing is finished; the issue is concluded at the end of the year after the publication of the last article.

⦁ Theme Issue. Yearly publication organized by external persons or guests invited by REAI, who contribute specific themes within the scope of the Journal.

⦁ OPEN DATA

REAI recommends that data on the study, as well as codes, should be shared and published in a trusted repository. For this purpose, after approval, REAI strongly recommends that authors use SciELO Data, and refer to its research data deposit guidelines.

If the article data is hosted in a public repository, this must be stated in the article with the repository name, data identification number, Direct URL Data, and DOI.

 

⦁ FEES (OPEN ACCESS POLICY)

The Journal of Education, Arts, and Inclusion has an open access policy, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license, and edited with funds from the State University of Santa Catarina.

Therefore, there are no charges for reading, submitting, evaluating or publishing articles, based on the principle of encouraging academic research free of charge and fostering the exchange of knowledge.

 

⦁ AUTHOR’S IDEOLOGICAL RESPONSIBILITY

Articles with authorship identification represent the expression of the point of view of their authors, not the official position of the Journal of Education, Arts, and inclusion, nor of the Research Group for Education and Arts in Contemporary Political Processes of the Center for Arts, Design, and Fashion of Santa Catarina State University (UDESC).

 

⦁ ORIGINALITY CHECK (PLAGIARISM DETECTION)

The Journal of Education, Arts and inclusion makes use of Similarity Check, a service provided by CrossRef, which brings together in a tool several journals with the objective of protecting the originality of the contents they publish.

Similarity check uses the software iThenticate to detect coincidences and similarities between the manuscripts being reviewed and those previously published in other sources.
