Code of Ethics and best publishing practices

 

Editors

⦁ Every editorial decision is based on originality, contribution, relevance, thematic validity, general structure and compliance with editorial policies to meet the scope of the Journal.

 

Reviewers

⦁ The review is based on the merit of the work and is not influenced either positively or negatively by personal, financial, or prejudiced reasons.
⦁ Submissions and details of reviews are kept confidential.
⦁ Reviewers must check and inform the editorial staff of any potential conflict of interest prior to acceptance of the assessment or during the process.
⦁ When faced with irregularities concerning the evaluated article, reviewers must communicate them to the editorial team.
⦁ The opinions must justify the decision and contribute to improving the quality of the article being reviewed.

 

Authors

Authorship in a scientific article must only be stated when the authors:

a) contribute intellectually, directly and substantially to the conception of the study/article (acquisition, analysis or interpretation of the data);
(b) participate in the production of the preliminary versions or critical revision of the content of the article;
c) are responsible for the authorship to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the article.

Authors are supposed to declare any conflict of interest that may arise.

 

Disclaimer and expression of concern

Editors have a duty to act if they suspect misconduct or if an allegation of misconduct is brought to them. And an investigation extends to both submissions and published articles.

REAI uses COPE’s flowcharts and  SciELO's Guidelines for registering and publishing disclaimers to determine the facts and the necessary actions for resolution of particular cases.

 

Claims and appeals

REAI follows COPE’s guidelines for claims and appeals.

Articles presented in scientific events

The Journal of Education, Artss and inclusion does not accept articles previously presented in full in scientific events.

For articles based on theses or dissertations, authors must state this condition/situation at the time of submission in the Comments field to the editor and, if the text is approved, this information must be included in a footnote.

 

Unforeseen situations

The guidelines of REAI’s Code of Ethics are based on the guidelines of the Ethics Committee for Publications (COPE). Any unforeseen situations or omitted cases will be resolved by considering the respective guidelines of the committee.

 

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

A conflict of interest may be academic, personal, political, commercial, financial, or other.

This may be a process or a situation in which the interests of authors, revisers or publishers, whether visibly or not, influence data production, writing, review or evaluation of the manuscript.

The entire peer review process, the editors’ activity and the credibility of the information present in the manuscripts are associated with conflict of interest management.

Authors
The person who writes the manuscript is responsible for informing, by means of a statement, whether or not there is a conflict of interest. This declaration must be attached in step 4 – Transfer of supplementary documents. Information on the existence of a conflict of interest must be given in a footnote at the beginning of the text of the submitted work.


Reviewers

Reviewers must report to the editorial team of the Journal on the presence of conflict of interest by stating that they are not qualified to review a particular material.


Evaluators

Ad hoc people must necessarily inform the editorial staff of the Journal about their knowledge of any conflicts of interest that may have an influence on the work and, if so, they must self-report as not qualified to evaluate the respective work.

Editors
The publishing team must notify the editorial board of the Journal about the existence of a conflict of interest in some work submitted so that the respective evaluation process is monitored by the collegiate in a transparent manner.

 

ORIGINALITY CHECK (PLAGIARISM DETECTION)

The Journal of Education, Arts, and Inclusion makes use of Similarity Check, a service provided by CrossRef, which brings together in a tool several journals with the objective of protecting the originality of the contents they publish.

Similarity check uses the software iThenticate to detect coincidences and similarities between the texts being reviewed and those previously published in other sources.

 

PRIVACY STATEMENT

The names and addresses informed in REAI must be used exclusively for the services provided by this journal and must not be made available for other purposes or to third parties, in accordance with Act No 13.709 of August 14, 2018, namely the General Data Protection Act (LGPD), in Articles 3 and 23.
