Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic came about a global health crisis, deeply impacting artistic and cultural activities worldwide, including Brazil. As a researcher, I felt the need to investigate the repercussions of this scenario on dance production. I conducted interviews with artists from the contemporary scene in São Paulo, including Mônica Augusto and Ivan Bernardelli, directors of Cia. Dual, to understand how they faced the challenges and redesigned their approaches in this unique reality. Their narratives unveil not only adaptation but also the resilience and reinvention required to survive and resist in this new context.

Mônica Augusto, Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo

Graduada em Comunicação das Artes do Corpo pela Pontíficia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). Formada na Escola de Artes Dramáticas (EAD) da Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Atriz, dançarina, cantora e educadora.

Ivan Bernardelli, State University of Campinas (UNICAMP)

Mestrando em Artes da Cena da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Graduado em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela Universidade de São Paulo (USP).  Diretor, coreógrafo e bailarino da Cia. Dual.

Flávia Brassarola Borsani Marques, Federal University of Minas Gerais

Pós-doutoranda em Arte pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Doutora em Educação Física pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp). Mestra em Arte e Educação pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp). Especialização em Processos didático-pedagógicos para cursos na modalidade a distância pela Universidade Virtual do Estado de São Paulo (Univesp). Graduada em Dança pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV). Professora de Arte no Colégio Franciscano Pio XII (São Paulo) e professora da Pós-graduação em Dança e Consciência Corporal (Universidade Estácio de Sá).
