Abstract

This text was produced following an invitation to the author to participate in the International Colloquium Après La Scène: Les Autres Vies de la Marionnette, organized by the  Centre  National du Costume et de la Scène, in Moulins (France). The theme of the colloquium sought to mobilize reflections on the problem that involves the survival of the figures created for Puppet Theater, when the repertoires are no longer active or when the groups that gave rise to them end. In this work, orbiting about the term "rest", understood as that which resists disappearance, as the place of inscription and testimony of time, the author focuses on the objects and the place they occupy in our societies. The relationship with time is also analyzed, based on the questioning of what a society prohibits itself from destroying or sacrificing, based on what
remains, what stays. What could be our relationships, in time, with these works, located in another context? What dynamics are possible beyond the scene?

Author Biography

Roland Shön

Né pendant la dernière Guerre Mondiale, dans le coin gauche du bas de la France, c’est dans sa pointe du haut qu’il goûte maintenant d’être contemporain. Infortuné, comme beaucoup d’autres, il a dû pour vivre exercer un métier. La psychiatrie, dans un Hôpital de Jour accueillant des enfants autistes, jusqu’en 1999. Et le théâtre à partir de 1978, quand il a créé une compagnie, le Théâtrenciel (une quarantaine de créations présentées dans l’Hexagone et au-delà). Il aime tout faire dans le théâtre : écrire, fabriquer, jouer, mettre en scène, avec celles et ceux qui partagent sa passion de faire du théâtre par « objets interposés » (marionnettes, ombres, assemblages, rouleaux peints, vidéos) pour réjouir des publics, les inviter à nourrir leur imaginaire. Car il reste convaincu que c’est l’imagination qui peut nous aider à construire d’autres réalités que celle, accablante, du monde actuel
