Abstract

In this article, a connection is established between the show “Ubu and the Truth Commission” and the historical context of Apartheid in South Africa. It stands out how the play critically approaches the events of that period, exploring themes related to truth, Injustice and oppression. In addition, it is discussed the original work of Alfred Jarry and his pataphysical philosophy, which serves as the basis for an aesthetics and for the theme chosen for the theatrical project mentioned.

Author Biography

André Monteiro, Federal University of São Paulo

Doutorando em linguagens e saberes em contexto formativo pela UNIFESP, bacharel e mestre em processos e procedimentos artístico pelo Instituto de artes da UNESP, André Monteiro, também conhecido como Pato, já realizou diversas exposições individuais e coletivas. Pertencente ao movimento de arte urbana paulistana já apresentou seus trabalhos nas principais galerias deste seguimento na cidade; destaque para exposições individuais: Alegorias na Galeria Choque Cultural, Expo Patológico na Galeria A7ma, Escopofilia na Galeria Alma da rua, Metanóia na Blaze Galeria e as exposições coletivas nas galerias OContemporary no Reino Unido, Galeria da embaixada brasileira no Reino Unido, MUBE, entre outras. Se expressa com diversas técnicas artísticas: esculturas, fotografia, serigrafia, desenho, pintura, graffiti e animação. Em todos estes meios está presente seu estilo pessoal que compõe um universo repleto de alegorias, fantasia, humor e provocações. Sua pesquisa se estende para aparatos do chamado pré-cinema, resgatando a construção do movimento da imagem. Teatro de sombras, geringonças cinéticas, lentes de aumento, entre outros, apresentam ao público recursos expressivos dinâmicos físicos contrapondo-se aos atuais meios digitais que cada vez mais nos distância do processo concreto da formação da imagem.
