Abstract

Como aprender a tornar-se bonequeiro em um tempo em que as formas
tradicionais parecem fora de moda e novas formas carecem de tradição? John Bell
explora suas próprias experiências de aprendizado com o Bread & Puppet Theater, de Peter Schumann, que associa métodos vanguardistas a um forte respeito à tradição, e explica como ele combina ambas as abordagens em sua própria forma de ensinar, que busca incorporar um extenso conhecimento de práticas do teatro de bonecos do passado a uma abordagem aberta à invenção de novas técnicas, mesclando velhas e novas formas de atuar com objetos.

John Bell, University of Connecticut (EUA)

Ph.D. em História do Teatro pela Universidade de Columbia.
Diretor da Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry e Professor associado de Artes Dramáticas na Universidade de Connecticut. Membro fundador da Great Small Works Theatre Company; foi membro da Bread and Puppet Theatre Company entre 1976 e 1986. Escreveu livros importantes na área de teatro de animação.
