Ojos grandes, miradas peninsulares

Para caracterizar de forma general el diseño contemporáneo de títeres en Cuba, existen dos tendencias definidas: la de los espectáculos con técnicas más simples como el guante y el marotte, en los que el propio titiritero es attrezzista y diseñador de las figuras y las escenografías, y la marcada por el estilo particular de diseñadores profesionales vinculados al teatro titiritero, que explora más posibilidades técnicas y de expresión. Una fisonomía recurrente del muñeco cubano es la de cabezas sobredimensionadas con respecto al resto del cuerpo y un énfasis en la expresión de los ojos, mientras un dibujo claramente figurativo, casi descriptivo, caracteriza a los personajes y las ambientaciones.
