como entendemos hoje (Jacob, 2018). Somente no Renascimento “quando o
homem descobre a consciência de seu existir social, que um processo de figuração
plástica é concebido a partir da ideia de semelhança: o eu do sujeito torna-se o
“espelho do mundo” (Matesco, 2009, p.23). O autor nos diz ainda que, o nu artístico
está ligado a características morais e se torna modelo de virtudes e qualidade
subjetivas que vieram a marcar a arte europeia. O nu não representava um corpo,
mas sim, diz Matesco, a ideia de homem.
No Renascimento o estudo e representação do corpo nu passam a fazer parte
da formação artística e as novas técnicas desenvolvidas vão colocar em tela, a
questão da cópia da natureza obedecendo a uma série de regras técnicas ao
mesmo tempo que exigem a inventividade do artista (Jacob, 2018).
No século XV, sob o efeito de fatores distintos, mas convergentes – a
descoberta da perspectiva na Itália, a difusão de novas técnicas pictóricas
em Flandres, o influxo do neoplatonismo sobre as artes liberais, o clima
de misticismo promovido por Savanarola-, a Beleza foi concebida
segundo uma dupla orientação que para nós, modernos, parece
contraditória, mas que era para os homens da época, ao contrário,
coerente. A Beleza é, de fato, entendida seja como imitação da natureza
segundo regras cientificamente estabelecidas, seja como contemplação
de um grau de perfeição sobrenatural, não perceptível com a visão,
porque não completamente realizado no mundo sublunar. O
conhecimento do mundo visível torna-se meio para o conhecimento de
uma realidade suprassensível ordenada segundo regras logicamente
coerentes. O artista é, portanto, ao mesmo tempo- e sem que isso pareça
contraditório- criador da novidade e imitador da natureza. Como afirma
com clareza Leonardo da Vinci, a imitação é, de um lado, estudo e
inventiva que permanece fiel à natureza porque recria a integração de
cada figura com o elemento natural e, de outro, atividade que também
exige inovação técnica [...] e não apenas passiva repetição das formas
(Eco, 2004, p.177-178).
Neste sentido pode-se compreender que o corpo era tratado sob a égide da
representação, abordagem que privilegia um olhar que transcende a materialidade
do corpo e a esta incorpora – por sua beleza e perfeição-valores morais do caráter
do representado (Jacob, 2018)

deve ser vista sob uma perspectiva tripla: representação, significação e
presentação. A representação está de acordo com a forma na arte e
tende a evitar a carga material das imagens em proveito de uma função
