talvez por isso, desafiadora. Como veremos, reapresentar um evento a princípio
avesso à repetição é algo que depende da ressignificação da relação, no campo
performático, entre experiência e registro, ato e memória – presença e arquivo.
No campo da produção artística contemporânea, o fenômeno da
reperformance, em sentido estrito, ganha visibilidade internacional a partir dos
anos 2000, quando algumas instituições culturais abrem suas portas para uma
tendência curiosa: a reencenação de performances canônicas, via de regra dos
anos 1960 e 1970, muitas das quais concebidas, de início, como eventos de exibição
única, de natureza testemunhal e autográfica. A ideia de manter “viva” uma dada
performance, implícita na reperformance, coincide, no plano histórico, com a
adoção pela UNESCO, em 2003, da categoria de “patrimônio cultural imaterial”, e
com ela divide os riscos, como nota Diana Taylor, de transformar as práticas vivas
em produtos de marketing (Taylor, 2016, p.149-161). Além disso, em termos
geracionais, o repentino interesse por tais obras fugidias do passado tem relação
com o processo, em si mesmo nostálgico, de “reviver” no presente as utopias da
geração 68, ali incluídas algumas de suas principais estratégias artísticas, como o
conceitualismo, a efemeridade e a performação (Chalmers, 2008, p.23-25). A
própria difusão das reencenações ocorre num momento de clara
institucionalização da performance, evidente nas curadorias e bienais a ela
dedicadas, e na recente abertura dos museus às artes corporais (Foster, 2015,
p.127-128). O pano de fundo imediato é o processo de legitimação cultural das
chamadas “novas vanguardas”, ativas entre os anos 1960 e 1970 (Buchloh, 2000,
p.xxii-xxv), e que há pelo menos vinte anos vêm ocupando um lugar de destaque
nas pesquisas universitárias, no circuito expositivo e no mercado das artes.
Nas suas diversas variantes, o debate aberto pelas reperformances implica
uma reconsideração crítica não apenas da ideia de performance, mas do que se
entende por obra de arte na condição contemporânea. É quase um lugar-comum
que uma obra de performance seja vista como uma arte do aqui-e-agora, uma
espécie de presença imediata de corpos potencialmente tangíveis, que agem no
tempo diante de testemunhas oculares. Num mundo hipermediatizado como o
nosso, é compreensível a simpatia nostálgica angariada por essa visão, como se a
